Bibliotherapy: Untamed by Glennon Doyle
Untamed was my introduction to Glennon Doyle, I joined the party a little late! It’s not surprising that she’s a bestselling author. This book offered golden nuggets of wisdom that were delivered like punches to the gut! If you’re a woman or a mother, this book is for you. Doyle shares “stories about how I got caged- and how I got free.” She encourages us to create our own way, make our own normal, and free ourselves from expectations with the book’s mantra: “You are a goddamn cheetah.”
She uses short chapters to convey thoughts on women, parenting, raising girls and boys, motherhood, being brave, freedom, tapping into the Knowing, control, love, family, grief, anxiety, depression, sexuality, racism, and just about everything on being human.
I often say, “Everything there is to know, it can be found in a book.” This book offers permission to do things differently, to hope, Doyle encourages us, and calls us to action: “Here’s to the Untamed: May we know them. May we raise them. May we love them. May we read them. May we elect them. May we be them.”
