Hope Can Change the World: Here’s How!
At times, the state of our world can feel hopeless: war, natural disasters, and pandemics. We as people can feel hopeless. A sense of hopelessness can be a symptom of poor mental health. Hope allows us to see a way forward, even amidst hard times. Hope is not an emotion, but a cognitive process.
According to Psychology Today*, “The power to access the belief that things can get better, no matter the challenges, can quite literally change the world.” Research supports that those who believe things can get better are more likely to take action to create change, “Hope is a way of thinking that pushes us to take action.” Researchers found that hopeful people have three things in common: 1) goals, 2) strategies forward, and 3) agency. We can learn and practice hope. HERE ARE 7 WAYS HOW:
1. Practice Gratitude
2. Connect to Spirituality
3. Read Inspirational Content
4. Be in Community
5. Do Things You Enjoy
6. Spend Time in Nature
7. Make a Plan and Take Action
