“Suicide is always complicated” and “death by suicide is multifactorial and complex and cannot be explained by risk factors alone.” Losing a loved one to suicide can result in a complicated grief response. Survivors can be left with unanswered questions, regrets, challenges around stigma and shame, judgment from others, trauma, police/media interactions, self-blame/guilt, and shock along with a mirage of other emotions.

I realize, I founded Coriander Living Collective over 4 years ago and I have never wrote a Blog Post on suicide. It’s fairly typical for me to have clients on my caseload with suicidality or past suicide attempts. It is a clinical area where I have competency, extensive training, and experience in treating and managing suicidal behavior. Suicidality is complex, and death by suicide is tragic, having profound impact on survivors. I have personal history with suicide loss like so many others. Announcing 988 for Suicide, Mental Health, & Substance Use Crisis Situations! (Call/Text/Chat 988)
Starting July 16, 2022 anyone in the United States can call, text, or chat 988 which is hosted by The National Suicide Prevention & Lifeline. This new national service is called the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Any person experiencing a crisis, or someone concerned for someone in crisis can use this service. Staff answering calls are trained to listen, support, de-escalate, encourage coping skills, and resource connect.
