Open Floor Dance 101 & Moving Meditation/3-Part Series

This 3-week series is designed as an introduction to the mindful movement, conscious dance practice of Open Floor International. The benefits of an Open Floor practice include building strength/coordination/mobility, lifting mood, reducing anxiety/stress, regulating the nervous system, encouraging connection to self/others/spirit, increasing self-awareness, and building resiliency. People who have a regular embodiment practice approach life with more ease, creativity, and flexibility. Be one of those people!

What to Expect: You’ll be introduced to the principles of Open Floor International through instruction and experiential practice. We will begin each session by arriving well, opening awareness, using meditation and movement exercises to explore a Core Movement Resource theme, settling, and closing well with sharing. Music supports our practice. You will spend time sitting, standing, dancing, talking, breathing, lying, and modifying as needed. Open Floor practice is for everybody.

3-Part Series. Each class will be 60 minutes. You are encouraged to attend the series in full for the best value yet drop-ins are welcome! Come experience Open Floor!

·      11/6/22: Week 1: CENTER: Feel steady, balanced, at home in your body.

·      11/13/22: Week 2: ACTIVATE & SETTLE: Calm and regulate your emotions.

·      11/20/22: Week 3: TOWARDS & AWAY: Understand your preferences and emotional boundaries.

Pre-Registration/Cost: $47 for the 3-part series ($66 value)! $22 drop-in rate for any 1 of the 3 classes in this series. This class is included with an Inspiring Actions Unlimited Membership (use code “memberfree”) when registering for the 3-part series. Pre-registration is appreciated, spots are limited to 12 attendees. Registration is non-refundable yet is transferable (send a friend in your place if you can’t make it)!

Bring: Please wear comfortable clothing, bring a water bottle, and a yoga mat. Yoga mats, bolsters, and blankets are available in the studio.
