Yoga for Wellness!
I was introduced to the practice of yoga in the Summer of 2000 by a new friend I met in a train station in Italy. She took me to my first sweaty, hot Bikram’s yoga class once we returned to Madison, WI where we were both undergrads. And I was hooked! I’ve practiced and dabbled in different styles of yoga and explored different teachers and studios for the past 25+ years! I even spent a few weeks at Sivananda Ashram, Neyyar Dam in India in 2012 where I learned to stand on my head which I can still do! I currently sit on the Board of the yoga non-profit, the Abundant Yoga Community even though I am not a trained yoga instructor, only a lover of yoga!
There are so many documented health benefits of yoga practice: flexibility, strength, balance, joint health, cardio, stress and anxiety reduction, increased mood, and improved sleep. Yoga classes in the States typically include yoga postures/asanas and breathing or mindfulness techniques. I am a firm believer in the benefits of movement and the value of practicing in community!
I have clients who have added yoga to their routines and reaped the positive benefits! Here are some yoga resources you may want to consider:
Yoga 101 w/Inspiring Actions, Hudson & River Falls, WI
Karma Yoga w/Abundant Yoga Community, free weekly classes
bAmplifed w/Amy Patee free online classes (Amy is one of my favorites!)
Do Yoga with Me w/David Procyshyn free online classes (David’s Hips, Hamstrings, & Low Back has been a saver for me for over 10 years! I could use it right now as my left hip screams at me!)
Coriander Living Collective believes in the power of communal healing and that different approaches work for different people at different times. Reach out to consult about how we can support you! Give yoga a try!
