9 Daily Ways to Remain Steady in an Unsteady World

The pandemic has been ongoing for several months and we are heading into the holiday season and winter with increased restrictions. Stress, fear, worry, anxiety, loneliness, and grief are no strangers to many of us. Even though many things around us are different, challenging, or undesirable, how do we connect with our sense of center, balance, and calm during unwelcomed times? Here are 9 Daily Ways to Remain Steady in an Unsteady World and a Remaining Steady Daily Worksheet to support you in these daily practices.

1.    BE INTENTIONAL: Have daily goals. Write to do lists. Choose positive influences. Look for silver linings.

2.    PRACTICE GRATITUDE: Shift your mindset, look for the positives. Be of service. Be kind and patient. Keep a gratitude list.

3.    MOVE YOUR BODY: Every day. More than 1x a day! Dance, walk, run, sports, or any exercise. Join a yoga studio and take virtual or in-person classes.

4.    ACCESS NATURE: Get outside. Touch the natural environment. Bring natural elements into your home. Listen to nature sounds. Watch nature documentaries. Take a salt bath.

5.    MEET BASIC NEEDS: Sleep longer. Drink more water. Eat foods rich in nutrients and low in sugar. Take supplements to help support mood.

6.    CONNECT: Check-in on neighbors, friends, family, and colleagues. Pray. Practice meditation and mindfulness. Deep breath. Hug. Laugh. Play with pets or adopt a new pet.

7.    CREATE ROUTINE: For you and your family. Write it down. Hold a schedule. Or if things feel too monotonous, break your typical routine. Do something new and different.

8.    BE CREATIVE: Do arts, crafts, make music, cook, bake, write, reorganize a closet, or journal.

9.    LIMIT MEDIA: Check-in with reputable news sources 1x a day. Be informed, not obsessed.

I hope this season finds you noticing an opportunity to slow down, the gift of time to connect with those most important, and an ability to embrace rather than resist what is outside and inside of you. If you are struggling to find your steady, Coriander Living Collective is here to offer support.
