The mindful movement, conscious dance practice of Open Floor International was founded in 2013 by a think tank of global experts from different disciplines including mindfulness, movement, psychology, and art. Based on the universal concepts of embodiment and mindfulness, the founders created a flexible framework to guide and support Open Floor practice.

One of the anchors of Open Floor practice is the Movement Cycle which includes:

1.  Open Attention: We open both our inner and outer awareness, arrive for practice, and welcome whatever is noticed.

2.  Enter with an Embodied Anchor: We enter our bodies and sensation.

3.  Explore: Here we deepen and broaden our awareness, expand, and experiment with guided and self-directed inquiries.

4.  Settle: And to end, we slow down, integrate, and allow our nervous systems to encode new pathways.

The Movement Cycle may be short or hours long, one class could complete one cycle, or do many cycles. The Movement Cycle is a guide during Open Floor practice. The more you practice this cycle, you might notice it happening throughout the day, in your daily life, and in your nervous system. Come join us for an Open Floor workshop or class!
